Current Situation Analysis Workshop 16 – 18 October 2019

A three-day Current Situation Analysis Workshop was held in Ankara on 16-17-18 October 2019 with the participation of 30 field officials and 10 Ministry representatives.

The workshop started with the opening speeches made by Can YILDIZ, Head of Project and Technical Systems Department of the Ministry of Trade, and Mustafa EVCİMEN, TÜBİTAK Contracts Manager. Head of the Projects and Technical Systems Department of the Customs Enforcement Directorate, Mr. Can YILDIZ talked about the scope of the project and the expectations of the beneficiary and continued with his presentation.

Senior Expert Şevket AKDOĞAN explained the information obtained from 4 field visits to Istanbul Airport, Edirne Kapıkule Land Border Gate, Mersin Port and Istanbul Muratbey and Ambarlı Customs Gates, what was learned from the visits, and presented the Current Situation Analysis Draft Report with their methodologies.

On the first day of the workshop, the Current Situation Analysis Draft Report, which brought together the findings of the field visit, was discussed in detail. Contribution and feedback were received from the participants for the development of this report.

On the second day of the workshop, the participants identified the areas that they saw most frequently lacking in the system and that they needed technical support, in line with the forms presented to them. Based on these findings, they created use cases about these issues. Through these scenarios, they presented their case studies to the participants and shared their ideas on how the system could be improved.

On the third day of the workshop, a SWOT analysis study was conducted by asking site officers about current issues and problems they encounter in the site.
